Confusion about what is called a sedative to make me a bit much review about it this time. In practice as a psychiatrist Psychosomatic, I see more cases of psychosomatic complaints which is basically the anxiety disorders and depressive disorders. Monoamine Group
Known for its trademark AURORIX MOCLOBLEMIDE generic contents. Drugs including old and rarely used anymore because of side effects that endanger the serotonin poisoning. This drug in some cold medicines should not be given. So if a patient asked me if that antidepressants can eat meal of cold medicine, the answer may be just do not eat this drug.
Serotonin Group
Is the latest group of the most recommended at this time because of good tolerance and minimal side effects. Several types and famous trademarks are:
Fluoxetine (Kalxetin, Prozac, Antiprestin, Lodep)
Sertraline (Serlof, Zoloft, Antipres)
Escitalopram (Cipralex)
Paroxetine (Seroxat) -> has been rarely used in Indonesia
The most frequent side effect is nausea and stomach upsets, but usually with a small initial dose and increased slowly this can be neutralized
Serotonin-Norepinephrine Group
It is the most recent class, the famous brand is Cymbalta and Effexor. It is not available in Indonesia for some time.
Side effects similar to serotonin, but sometimes high blood pressure like it was found after usage.
Benzodiazepine
Known to the public as a sedative, apparently macam2 and most famous is the contents of alprazolam xanax.
Another class is
a. Alprazolam (xanax, calmlet, zypraz et al)

b. Clobazam (Frisium)

c. Estazolam (Esilgan)
